Deana’s passion to help others help themselves started at a young age. When she was in the 4th grade she was nominated the class nurse after putting a bandage on a boo-boo of a fellow student. Helping others grew into a fascination and respect for the human body; physically, emotional and spiritually. In high school Deana’s career counselor advised her to go into nursing.
She became a Registered Nurse in Michigan in 1979 and pursued many areas of experience and expertise; inpatient floor nursing, Intensive Care, Operating Room, start-up and manager of an IV (intravenous) Team, a home care nurse and a Hospital Administrator.
Deana received three letters of commendation and was the first RN in Michigan to perform the insertion of a dual lumen PICC(peripherally-inserted central catheter). Her relationship with her patients was based on her compassion, observation skills, teaching ability and, at times, a “tough love” approach. Deana has had patients from all walks of life, young, old, male, female, of various ehtnic groups and ancestries, etc. Therefore, Deana has a “no judgement, no guilt” approach.
Deana was always frustrated with the fact that as “modern” as the American health care system is supposed to be, it still to this day overlooks the direct impact that food and lifestyle has on health and wellness. Instead, the health care industry relies heavily on surgery to cut out the problem and drugs, with numerous side effects, to mask the symptoms. The cause is too often overlooked and misunderstood. Deana began her search for natural healing early on in her nursing career. As a result, she learned that the best form of healing is self-healing, using the capabilities of the human body along with food and lifestyle factors. She then became a Certified Health Coach since more and more people want to be in control of their health and wellness.
In addition to her health coaching, numerous certifications, ongoing experience and never-ending education, Deana is also a Speaker. Audiences enjoy her inspiring and interactive speaking style that packs in a powerful message.
